Garrett Wilson, the Jets’ wide receiver, expresses admiration for ‘remarkable teammate’ Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers’ pleasing rapport with the Jets is persisting.
Garrett Wilson, who is now in his second year as a wide receiver, spoke on SiriusXM NFL this week about his experiences adjusting to his new quarterback.
“As a player, when there’s a new quarterback coming onboard, you aim to synchronize your movements and perfect certain routes together. We were given an opportunity to do just that,” stated Wilson. “It was truly exhilarating to play alongside him against a defense under his command, understand his perception of the defense, and spend time with him in the film room — among other things. We hope that all these experiences combined will pave the way to our future success.
“We plan to consistently improve on that. Our time together might have been brief, but we feel that we utilized it to the fullest. That’s all we could do.”
Wilson, who claimed the AP’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season with a tally of 1,103 receiving yards, was questioned about his experience working alongside Rodgers.
“Aaron is an incredible person,” responded Wilson. “He’s genuinely good-natured.
“My main aim is to gain as much knowledge as possible. He is well aware of that. He knows that we’ve grown up watching him play. He conducts himself in the way you’d anticipate.
“He’s a victor, a past champion, an extraordinary player, and one of the all-time greats, and his demeanor reflects it. So, it’s been a privilege to work with him, certainly.”
In the upcoming weeks, the Jets will be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, offering a deeper insight into the bond Rodgers is fostering with Wilson and the rest of his Jets teammates.
