Pepsi’s newest product, Colachup, has stirred up a flurry of reactions on Twitter, with many endorsing the new concept.

This Independence Day, Pepsi will launch its unique product, Colachup – a ketchup blended with Pepsi.

The beverage company collaborated with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Consulting to concoct this unique sauce, which they claim is a perfect match for hot dogs.

Pepsi, with its refreshing taste, has been a staple in American culture, loved by many generations. We’ve always believed that hot dogs and Pepsi are a match made in heaven, and now the experts agree,” stated Jenny Danzi, Senior Director at Pepsi TM, in a press release.

“Pepsi Colachup was created to accentuate the exceptional pairing of hot dogs and Pepsi – a delightfully tasty creation that seamlessly merges a condiment with the ultimate hot dog accompaniment, creating a singular flavor experience,” she further added.

David Kamen, Director of Client Experience for CIA Consulting, stated, “The concept is ingenious in its simplicity. The distinctive, citrusy flavors of Pepsi complement the tangy characteristics of ketchup, balancing out the smokiness of the hot dog. It’s a novel approach to enjoying two American classics!”

Twitter users had a range of reactions to this new release, with many endorsing it.

One user tweeted, “This is daring… but I love Pepsi and ketchup… I guess I’d give it a try.”

Another person enquired, “Where can I buy a bottle? Root Beer BBQ sauce is wonderful, and I love ketchup, so I believe Pepsi and Ketchup would work well together.”

However, not all reactions were positive.

One person expressed their distaste with a single word, “Barf.”

While another user expressed, “I love ya Pepsi, but this is a hard pass for me.”

It is yet unknown if this condiment will make its way to the supermarket shelves. However, interested patrons can have their first taste of it on July 4 at four Major League Baseball stadiums – The Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Yankees will offer “exclusive in-stadium sampling” during their respective games that day.

Pepsi has a history of experimenting with flavors. In 2021, it partnered with Peeps to develop PEPSI x PEEPS, a limited-edition soda that blended Pepsi with Peeps marshmallow flavor. Following that, in 2022, it introduced Pepsi-Roni Pizza, a pizza topped with pepperoni infused with Pepsi.
